Submitted By: Sam Sourial, SAIC Company

Assuming that you have already installed the 4s PCI card into your computer, you can install the Flexport 4s driver as follows:

  1. Download Windows NT driver (.zip file)
  2. Use a Zip utility to unzip the file
  3. Copy the following files to floppy drive:
      • Add4port
      • Add4port.sys
      • Addonics.dsk
  4. Install
  5. Click Start, Run, Browse, then type: a:\install and hit enter
  6. The install file runs the driver program which will search the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory for a file called “RUNDLL32.EXE”
  7. If the directory and the file exist on the C: drive, the program will upgrade the NT registry and complete the installation
  8. When asked to reboot the system, please do so
  9. After you have reboot the system, click on Start, Setting, Control Panel then Port. You will see the 6 ports and the original COM1, COM2 along with COM5, COM6, COM7 and COM8
  10. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE WINDOWS NT INSTALLED ON THE D: DRIVE, then do the following:
  11. Click on Start, Run, then Cmd and this will bring up the DOS prompt
  12. Type: C: and hit Enter
  13. Type: CD\  and hit Enter
  14. From C:\>md WinNT, hit Enter
  15. Type: c:\cd\winnt and hit Enter
  16. Type: c:\winnt>md system32 and hit Enter
  17. Type: c:\winnt>cd system32 and hit Enter
  18. From c:\winnt\system32>copy d:\winnt\system32\rundll32.exe.
  19. Repeat steps 4 through 8 above.

When I first tried to install the 4s PCI card into my computer, the system could not log into the network. I pulled out the 4s PCI card from the computer and the system was then able to see the network. Therefore, I knew there was a conflict between the network card and the 4s PCI card. I then changed the configuration on the network card from IRQ 10 to 11 and the base memory address from 300 to 220. I restarted the computer and was then able to see the network. I reinstalled the Flexport PCI 4s card into computer, turned the computer back on and tested it. Both cards then worked!
