Pocket PC Installation Tips for CF Card Type GPS Receiver
It is important to follow these instructions before you start the Aceena CF Card Type GPS Receiver in your Pocket PC for the first time.
- Bring your your pocket PC towards a window in your home, office or building. GPS signals come directly from satellites up in the sky and therefore, the best signal reception will be in a location where the signal can be in direct contact with your GPS antenna. The flat surface of the antenna should be pointing towards the sky.
- Select ON and then select START.
- Open the program page and select the GPS Viewer icon.
- On the GPS Viewer page, select SCAN.
- Your program will start to scan for available COM ports. This will take a few seconds. If the COM port cannot be found, your GPS will not be able to communicate with your Pocket PC.
- Once the GPS has found an available COM port, select OK and you be returned back to the GPS Viewer page.
- Select OPEN GPS, then select the STATUS tab. Now, you will see a globe displaying red dots within. Below the globe, you will see a bar chart with numbers. Watch these bars closely because as soon these Bars turn blue, you will be fixed on the satellites. To the right of the globe, you will see the current longitude and latitude readings. This indicates that the GPS has found your location.
- You can now go back to the SETUP tab in the GPS Viewer page to CLOSE the GPS.
- Now that you have acquired the GPS signal, go to your map by selecting the map icon which will display the map of your location.
- Select the TOOL tab, go to the GPS pull down menu and select TRACK POSITION. A revolving circle will appear letting you know that the GPS is searching for your location. After a few seconds, a transparent circle will appear on your location.
- When you see the transparent circle, use your stylus to draw a square around the area of your location. This will display a magnified view of your location on the map. To further magnify your location, repeat this step as many times as you need.
