Bellabeat, a Y Combinator-backed company founded in 2014, entered the market with a unique design for a wooden, spherical monitor that could record and share a baby's heartbeat from inside the womb. The company then followed up on its initial success with the Leaf, a small piece of jewelry that tracks basic fitness metrics. The first batch of 10,000 Leafs sold out in 48 hours.
