You will:

• Dual reporting to the General Counsel (in the US), and the VP, Head of Asia, the Head of Legal will be responsible for all legal matters in Asia, including general corporate, commercial, employment and regulatory matters. 
• Lead the Asia Legal Team
• Develop legal procedures, policies and practices to support Asia business operations
• Work with business, functional and technology teams to identify and analyze legal issues associated with our commercial operations, geographic expansion, and technologies in the region and advise on legal and compliance risk mitigation
• Provide merger and acquisition support in strategic and key transactional initiatives
• Manage outside counsel and compliance vendors -- e.g., evaluate service providers, and manage costs and performance.
• Partner with the global team to continually improve our legal and compliance programs to help Flexport scale up in Asia with a globally-consistent, but locally-relevant approach
• Manage major contract review, negotiations, arbitrations and litigations
• Work with and support our Partner teams in managing freight forwarding agents (origin and destination) to ensure legally sound and compliant representation of Flexport.

You should have:

• At least 8+ years’ PQE experience as a practicing attorney with experience in top tier law firm and  relevant in-house experience
• Experience with logistics / supply chain / freight forwarding is a must
• Experience interacting with regulators and excelling in a highly-regulated business
• Experience managing a team 
• Sound judgment and excellent communication skills
• Experience in managing competing demands and working with highly-dynamic business 
• Regional experience in greater China and S.E.A 
• Proficiencies (verbal and written) in Chinese would be a significant advantage
• A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
